Hypnobirthing - Hypnosis For Pregnancy & Birth

Katharine Graves is the founder of Hypnobirthing Association in the UK of which I am a member and she shares eloquently what the Hypnobirthing programme is all about with a focus on natural birth.

Hypnobirthing Is A Programme With A Focus On Natural ChildBirth.

Hypnobirthing uses the power of positive language to combine methods of deep relaxation, breathing techniques, visualisation and affirmative positive thinking to reduce anxiety, stress, fatigue and fear - and subsequently reduce pain!

Mothers-to-be are informed about what happens to the body during labour and encouraged to have the confidence and control needed to give the best birth possible.

It explores the relationship between pain and labour and helps women to learn to work with sensations.

The technique aims to show how the woman and her birthing companion can create a birthing environment that is calm and serene rather than tense and stressful.

I have been providing Hypnobirthing classes since 2003 and have taken hundreds of couples through this programme, which is now available online as if you were attending live-in class!

Our website tells you what we do, why and how we do it. But only our mums and dads can tell you that we are good at it, so we have included here some of the many birth stories, comments, and messages that we have received from parents who have given birth using hypnosis, visualisation, breathing exercises and more…who have benefited from our expertise.

Enjoy Reading Cliona's Incredible Birth Of David!

Hi Aisling we are doing well. We had a healthy baby boy on the 3rd of March, 7lb 13oz. We called him David. I went into labour five days past my due date. It was very quick over all. My pains started at 23.30, I managed to stay at home until 4.30 using the ball, tens and breathing techniques. On arrival at the hospital I was only 1 to 2cms, I was very disheartened as the pains were pretty intense.

I got a pethidine injection, it helped to relax me and take the edge off. I was 10 cms dilated 2 hours later. My waters went and 40 minutes later David was born. I found the breathing techniques helped me through the contractions. The sleep audio helped me a lot during the pregnancy. The affirmations and conditioning audio also helped to relax me and calm me during the pregnancy and in the build up to the labor.

Thanks for everything. I think hypnobirthing is wonderful, I would advise every pregnant woman to do it! Cliona & James
